Welcome!
Where Reading is a Hoot!!

Reading Tips:
- Encourage Choice! Allowing kids to choose from a limited number of options is a great way to boost reading motivation while keeping them on task.
- Support Discovery! Help your child discover their next great read. Take them to a local library or bookstore and give them plenty of time to browse the shelves.
- Set a good example! Show your child that you value reading. If you want to see your child read at home, then make sure your child sees you reading at home.
- Read Aloud! Make reading aloud a frequent family activity, no matter how old your child is!
- Create loving associations with books and reading! Make reading together fun and memorable. Reading doesn’t have to be a solitary activity. You can even start a family book club! Many children enjoy the social aspects of reading.
- Diversify Reading Materials. Encourage your child to be a diversified reader—and make sure that diversity includes books. Read an assortment of books and texts (Fiction, Nonfiction, articles, comics, fairy tales,...)
- Get in the Zone! Reading materials in the “zone” offer just enough challenge to help them build stronger reading skills, but not so much that they become frustrated and discouraged from further reading.
